Formulation and Application Scientist – Adhesives
Specialty chemical manufacturer is looking for an adhesives formulation chemist to join their team. If you have a minimum of 7+ years of experience formulating adhesives and are goal oriented, this could be a great opportunity for you! Our client offers great benefits!
Duties:
- Perform application and bonding of substrates and adhesives
- Set up application equipment (i.e., melters, coaters, pumps, nozzles)
- Solve related product performances
- Perform testing such as environmental aging, flatwise tension test, peel and shear testing, cleavage, rolling ball tack, and Instron machine
- Formulate and understand the functionality of raw materials
- Assist in characterization and troubleshooting products in analytical lab
- Maintain organization and inventory of lab supplies and equipment
- Create procedures for project work:
- Preparation, safe handling, and application products, description of ASTM methods, forms for reporting results concisely
- Limited travel when necessary
- Provide support and perform projects on time and communicate turnaround time of projects
- Analyze and organize data, present findings, and conclusion in written and verbal form
- Provide technical support by making the best recommendations for products and process conditions
- Perform field tests and appropriate late tests
- Utilize applications knowledge to guide new product development efforts
- Determine and recommend product and process modifications that improve conversation company business
- Host customer training
- Support creation and maintenance of TDS sheets
- Routinely update call notes, project updates, and reports

Salary
$120,000
Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- 7+ years of adhesives formulation
- Someone that can be hands on and work at bench formulating and application testing
- Someone who can talk with customers about how the adhesives are bonded, formulated, how they are used, and applied
- Someone who is comfortable working in the lab to run application testing such as physical testing, roll coating adhesives, performance testing on projects, and some analytical testing
- Organized
- Able to work independently
- Urethane experience is preferred for adhesives
- Experience writing safety procedures for lab
- Expertise on ASTM test procedures on what equipment is needed
- Experience working with sourcing team to purchase items for lab
