Polymer Synthesis Technician

We are looking to hire 2 Lab Techs who can support the PhD Polymer Scientist through organic and polymer reaction set up/synthesis, data collection, and testing of novel new materials for batteries.  Excellent work / life balance, and PTO policy!

Job Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

• Apply techniques to advance projects at all phases of development of company materials
• Effectively develop the scale up process of company materials to kg’s scale (10 L)
• Work with Scientists, Engineers and other Technicians to perform synthesis and scale up of company materials by following the oral and/or written instructions
• Monitor and document all synthesis properly
• Effectively communicate with the Scientists, Engineers and other Technicians regarding the deviations in the synthesis
• Understand and comply with all lab safety parameters and procedures
• Responsible for housekeeping activities in lab
• Perform any other duties assigned by leadership
• Collaborate with Scientists and Engineers to maximize the performance of company materials
• Add the highest possible value to the organization through technical or human collaboration
• Keep management informed with weekly reports or presentations
• Work collaboratively with peers and Steering Committee members to encourage open communication and to fulfill the mission of the organization

Technical Qualifications:

• BS degree in Chemistry, organic chemistry, or polymer chemistry with minimum of 3 years’ experience working in chemical synthetic lab is required. MS degree in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry or related science is preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience in synthetic lab for BS. Or a minimum of 0-1 years of experience in synthetic lab for MS
• Experience in working at synthetic lab is preferred
• Experience in scale up on organic / polymer to 10 Liters is preferred
• Excellent communication skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively with others
• Evidence of the ability to practice a high level of confidentiality
• Good understanding or working knowledge of coating process development principles
