Organic Wet Lab Chemist
Do you enjoy a wide variety of projects, enjoy the non-routine? If you enjoy doing wet chemistry, distillations, and purifications, and designing reactions to optimize process conditions? This would be the ideal role for you! This requires a high attention to detail, and being hands on in the lab working with delicate glassware. There’s room to grow and learn here too! Two openings!
The Organic Wet Lab Chemist analyses feed stock samples and evaluates chemical reactions and distillation processes in pilot plant units for internal and external customers.
Essential Functions / Key Accountabilities:
- Accurate analysis of feedstock samples, incl. GC, GCMS, FTIR, AA & Wet Chem.
- Able to conduct risk reviews based on SDS’s, desired chemistry and safety info from the public domain
- Able to use / modify process simulation software to design reactions & distillation processes
- Setup of lab distillation columns or chemical reactors in configurations based on simulated process design
- Intensive cooperation and communication with the Supervisor in the unit start-up and operation phase
- Maintenance of product quality intensive unit supervision and handling
- Writes laboratory reports including all technical and analytical information
- Practice of good laboratory hygiene and housekeeping
- Follows safety rules
- Part of projects, collaboration with other business function team members
- The role could cover / rotate within all company sites in the Houston area

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- Master’s in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with deep knowledge of organic chemistry
- Knowledge of distillation, thermodynamics, kinetics of chemical reactions
- Knowledge of batch and continuous hydrogenation reactions, esterification
- Experience in selecting and using various catalysts for reaction optimization
- KEY experiences could include making solvents, amines, etc.:
- Alyklation
- Amination
- Batch and continuous distillation
- Batch Reaction
- EO/PO Alkoxylation
- Glycol ether production
- Hydrolysis
- Isomerization
- Light Hydrogenation
- Reactive Distillation
