Health, Safety & Environmental Manager
THE HSES Manager reporting directly to the Manager, HSES Operations NA Region 2 will be responsible for maintaining focus and advancing site HSES programs and systems. This will include but not be limited to the following duties:
- Participate in the implementation of the company’s HSES Policies and Guidelines to help ensure that our employees, contractors, and visitors enjoy high levels of safety, health and environmental protection, thus reducing our liability exposure and preserving our privilege to operate
- Using internal and external resources; provide guidance to site management for implementation of programs or controls to comply with HSES requirements
- Serve on the plant SLT and manage site HSES processes including but not limited to personnel safety, facility security, Air, LDAR, PSM, HazCom, SPCC, RCRA, wastewater, permit compliance and training and development
- Prepare/provide oversight and submit reports on a timely basis to appropriate agencies to assure compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations. Respond to corporate requests in a timely manner
- As required, assist in obtaining new or revised permits that provide operational flexibility within the schedule established for new projects. Ensure that the facility can meet all provisions and provide tools to enable compliance
- Working with the company, external industry groups and ADEM; provide input to influence emerging regulations that would potentially impact plant operations
- Provide HSES guidance; develop systems, procedures, and training, and HSES support as needed
- Participate in site objectives in the areas of community relations
- Career development/mentoring of one direct report

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- B.S. in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Safety or equivalent, advanced degrees are preferred
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in a manufacturing/regulatory environment
- Experience/familiarity with federal and ADEM environmental requirements and State and Federal safety regulations
- Strong written, listening and verbal communication skills
- Strong presentation skills, meeting facilitation
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop cohesive working groups with personnel with various backgrounds, work assignments and education
- Be a team player in a team environment
- Be a self-starter and self-motivator
