Job Description
Technical Manager
Looking for experienced waterborne scientist with expertise in managing a group of waterborne synthesis and applications chemists. Main responsibilities of this role are to design and develop waterborne resins for coatings applications, provide support to customers, identify opportunities and help grow market share. It is desired to have expertise in acrylic emulsion / PUD synthesis and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Synthesize acrylic emulsions and polyurethane dispersions in the lab and also supervise chemists & formulators working in the waterborne areas
- Collaborate with fellow Synthesis, Application, Technical Service, and Innovation personnel in developing new technologies
- Desing and develop technical, promotional literature and prepare technical papers
- Presentation at conferences, symposiums and trade shows
- Communicate with customers to promote resins, new technologies and provide technical guidance. Visit customers when necessary
- Interface with Sales and Marketing personnel to implement growth strategy and help grow sales
- Investigate customer complaints and problems. Provide support to the customers when required
- Conduct trainings to customers and distributors when needed
- Maintain safe and regulatory compliant laboratory work environment in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice and through proper usage of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. or Ph.D. in Polymer Science
- Paint and coatings experience in the area of resins, paint and coatings
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and developing waterborne resins for the Wood, Industrial Metal, Construction & Decorative markets
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., wear respirators and operate lab equipment
- Excellent interpersonal, written, oral and presentation skills
- Ability to drive results, take initiative, collaborate, and build trust
- Ability to travel to pilot and production facilities for scale up and line trials
- Domestic and International travel – up to 5% of time
- Fluent English is required
- Experience in managing a team
