Adhesive Tech Service Group Leader

This role serves customers in the Advanced Materials division by leading a team responsible for introducing new products, servicing existing products and providing ongoing technical support in North America.  Will focus on delivering the field promotion plan for the business including technical sales presentations and customer visits.


Support regional product development activities by coordinating sampling and feedback sessions.  This role could travel up to 50% during peak times for North America.  This role will focus on a variety of markets including Coatings & Construction, Composites, Oil & Gas and Adhesives.  The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity and honesty while building an empowered team to deliver valuable business results.  Will supervise 3-5 Chemists.  What will be expected from you?

  • Work effectively with other Technical Service Team Leaders & Technical Service Manager to set group goals and objectives to meet the regional business plan. Clearly communicate these targets to the field promotion team.  Build team capabilities by investing in coaching, training and special assignments for team members
  • Lead your TS team by building strong working relationships with sales, marketing & other functions to effectively deliver regional field promotion of new products. Track and communicate this promotion pipeline at least monthly.  Identify roadblocks to team success, prioritize projects and assign resources in a fast paced, constantly changing business climate.  Develop and implement team standards of performance to build a culture of accountability in all areas including deadlines, reports, timesheets
  • Build a high-performance team through daily coaching and feedback in a fair and respectful manner. Develop a training and development plan to build capabilities by giving team members the chance to grow and learn
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints
  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with the company safety policy and procedures at all times. Follow safe working practices for personal equipment and team member safety in the laboratory and customer locations
  • Actively participate in various company and division initiatives as necessary

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related technical degrees and 10+ years of relevant work experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in Business will be considered depending on the 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • MS, PhD, MBA all desirable but not required
  • Desired experience in applications of thermoset chemistry
  • Previous team leadership experience is a plus
  • Experience with presentations and public speaking is desirable
  • Technical writing skills are desirable
  • Experience in working in or leading cross-functional teams
  • Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills
  • Good computer skills with Microsoft programs
