Analytical Polymer Chemist

The responsibilities of the Analytical Polymer Chemist will include:

  • Perform hands-on laboratory work with the use of analytical instrumentation
  • Design and conduct experiments that solve polymer related analytical chemistry problems
  • Interpret analytical data from a variety of polymer-based techniques (NMR, Rheology, DMA, TMA, FTIR, GPC) and apply the data to problem solving
  • Write reports that are tailored to the client through the discussion of methodology, data and conclusions
  • Comfortable working under firm deadlines within a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain analytical instrumentation and troubleshoot problems when necessary
  • Work effectively in a team environment but also be able to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

Requirements:

  • BS with 7-10 years – MS with 5- or PhD with 2 years of demonstrated ability to solve polymer related analytical chemistry problems
  • Create and run a variety of tests, and interpret analytical data from a variety of polymer-based techniques (NMR, Rheology, DMA, TMA, FRIT, GPC) and apply the data to problem solving
  • Reverse engineering polymer related products, adhesives, resins, coatings, composites, personal care
  • Failure analysis, and any exposure to comparative work for patent protection a huge plus
  • Rheology a plus too
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Works well under pressure and deadlines
  • Outgoing, energetic, person who enjoys solving problems through analysis
