Applications Technical Sales Manager – Performance Nutrition Market

The Applications Technical Sales Manager – Performance Nutrition Market role will support the performance nutrition commercial team in North America for the company’s product range.  This role covers a large functional ingredient portfolio with primary focus on sports nutrition and weight management products.

*In conjunction with the commercial team, represent the company to current and prospective customers within the identified market

*Develop thorough understanding of customer base, product development and market trends for the performance nutrition sector

*Develop a detailed technical knowledge of the products and propositions offered by company for performance nutrition

*Develop an understanding of company’s competitors’ products and propositions

*Develop high quality, great tasting, on-trend end product prototypes for the sector utilizing company ingredients

*Identify opportunities with customers where company can offer technology solutions that add real value

*Technically support customers with their application needs using company ingredients

*Translate the needs of the customer into technical briefings for internal stakeholders

*Work closely with cross-technical, commercial and operational personnel to manage the process from customer need identification to commercial implementation

*Demonstrate leadership within role through continuous improvement in ways of working and support of company’s customers

*Maintain strict confidentiality at all times

Requirements:

*Graduate with an academic background in relevant discipline, preferably Food Technology or related field

*Customer related experience (technical support) working in the food ingredients and/or nutrition industry

*Strong understanding of RTD beverage development, processing and ingredients

*4-5+ years of experience in a technical support / sales role

*Experience working with ingredients for the Performance Nutrition Market

*Knowledge/experience of the trends in the US Performance Nutrition Market

*Understanding of nutrition bar application development, processing and ingredients

*Excellent communication skills critical to success of this role

*Strong technical understanding of ingredients and their end use

*Ability to work effectively with other company departments and stakeholders here and overseas

*Ability to adapt way of working to the needs of different stakeholders at their customer base e.g. procurement, operations, R&D and quality

*Ability to successfully communicate technical / complex topics to customers

*Comfortable working with a low level of direct supervision

*Innovative and creative in identifying novel opportunities for company products

*Leadership skills to manage projects and internal stakeholders

*Results oriented and ambitious

*Traveling and presentations at customers is an important part of the job.  Willingness and flexibility to travel 30-40% based on needs

*Good computer skills, competency with MS Office Suite and CRM systems (Salesforce)
