Job Description

The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in strengthening and scaling our accounting function as we continue to grow. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, supporting operational decision-making, and building processes that can scale with the business. You’ll partner closely with the VP, Finance and Administration, project teams, and cross-functional leaders to bring clarity to our financials, improve consistency across projects, and ensure we are operating with discipline and visibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close process and general ledger accuracy
  • Own WIP reporting, revenue recognition, job costing, and billing
  • Oversee client billing and lien waiver compliance
  • Process biweekly and weekly union payroll; ensure compliance with filings
  • Own cash flow visibility, A/R trends, and covenant compliance
  • Supervise and mentor Project Accountant(s)
  • Strengthen internal controls and drive process improvement

Job Requirements

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction
  • Strong grasp of construction accounting (job cost, WIP, billing)
  • Experience owning or supporting month-end close
  • Union payroll experience a plus
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills

Compensation & Benefits
$115,000–$135,000/year base, plus performance and company bonus eligibility. Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO.
