Associate Scientist I

The Associate Scientist I is part of the Research, Development, and Quality group supporting nutritional products at the company.  Work will cover a range of product development activities from innovation to commercialization.

  • Execute the development of new and improved products, including prototype development, experimentation, product testing, data analysis, documentation and reporting
  • Support commercialization including pilot trials and scale-ups
  • Organize raw materials and maintaining ingredient inventory and keeping lab area and equipment operational
  • Qualification of new raw materials and maintenance of existing raw materials
  • Develop specifications in PLM systems for raw materials, formulas and finished products
  • Conduct shelf life studies and analytical testing on prototypes, raw materials and finished products, including sensory evaluation, data analysis, and reporting
  • Execute cost saving initiatives on alternate ingredients and processes
  • Collaborate with Operations on ingredient qualifications, commercialization and manufacturing
  • Collaborate with Quality on risk assessments, raw material testing, and root cause analysis

  • BS Food Science, Food Safety, Chemistry, Masters preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Background knowledge of food science including ingredient functionality, health and nutrition, food manufacturing processes, microbiology, quality assurance principles, and market research practices
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated strong learning aptitude
  • Experience working in a lab
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral, and ability to work effectively with teams
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
