Bulk Molding Compound Chemist
Job Description
$80,000 - $110,000 in base salary annually based on experience

Are you experienced in Bulk Molding Compounds (BMC) and ready to take on a hands-on product development role? This is an exciting opportunity to join a stable, family-owned company with a strong reputation in thermoset resins and molding compounds. You’ll have the chance to develop new formulations, lead customer trials, and support production scale-up—all while working in a collaborative and innovative environment.
What You’ll Do

Develop new or improved BMC formulations and guide projects from lab to production.

Conduct molding trials with customers and provide technical support for startup and troubleshooting.

Partner with internal teams on product testing, quality improvements, and new raw material evaluations.

Document and report on product development progress, test data, and customer interactions.

Support training for sales, lab, and production teams on BMC processes.
What We’re Looking For
-
BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related field.

Direct experience with Bulk Molding Compounds (required); Sheet Molding Compounds experience is a plus.

Background in formulation, product development, and processing of thermosets.

Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical, production, and customer-facing teams.

Creative, self-motivated, and adaptable to project needs.

Job Requirements
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry minimum
Preferably (but not required) 5+ years of experience in:
- Conducting and directing R&D work on Bulk Molding Compounds.
- Product and process development.
- Supervising and directing technicians.
- Extensive knowledge of BMC chemistry, applications, and processing techniques.
- Comfortable with having direct customer contact/interaction.
- Experience with industrial manufacturing processes.
- Project management – internal and external.
- Project documentation and creating reports.
- Knowledge of prudent lab practices.
- Some programming experience a plus.
