Business Developer (Homebased) CA, AZ

The Business Developer will work closely to implement company’s technical solutions, while promoting the company value proposition for the customers.  Working closely with Sales Account Managers, this position engages in extensive consultative selling and technical direct marketing to develop significant customer interest in, and sales of, specialty ingredients and serves offered by the Food Unit.  Primary objectives are pre- and post-sale technical support, technology transfer, and business development for the established target markets. 

  • Will be responsible for managing and growing sales in the designated regional territory for pharma market segments focused on nutraceutical, pharm, and biopharma
  • Generate profitable growth for company measurable in variable margin contribution
  • Generate new leads and expand customer base through a “hunter” mentality
  • Promote and drive sales of innovation products
  • Identify, develop and nurture customer-driven Sales Funnel (project pipeline) in collaboration with Marketing and Customer Technical Service (CTS)
  • Convert “won” opportunities in the Sales Funnel to purchase orders
  • Partner with new and existing customers to ensure sustainable growth and generate incremental margins by offering value-based solution through Customer-Centric selling
  • Understand market trends and the competitive environment in their pharma market segments
  • Continuously provide market and customer feedback to all internal stakeholders
  • Maintain and aim to continuously increase the New Promoter Score (NPS) at customer accounts in the designated regional territory
  • Collaborate with Channel partners, as needed, to deliver best solution to company’s customers



  • Minimum of BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field (MS preferred; MBA is a plus)
  • 5+ years proven experience in the Pharmaceutical industry required
  • Ingredient industry experience in customer-facing roles
  • Willingness to travel extensively, as needed, to perform the role (50%+)
  • Sales territory management experience
