The Plant Manager will oversee and support a 24/7 chemical operation to ensure that production is efficient, safe, and cost-effective while meeting quality standards. This role involves strategic planning, resource management, and team leadership, acting as the crucial link between the plant floor, upper management, and all other functional groups.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to meet or exceed customer expectations and production goals.
- Implement and enforce strict health and safety protocols and ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Establish and maintain quality control standards, ensuring all products meet required specifications and driving continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma) to enhance product quality and reduce waste.
- Develop, coordinate manufacturing schedules, optimize workflow, and allocate resources (personnel, equipment, raw materials) effectively to achieve production targets and on-time shipping.
- Prepare and manage operational and capital budgets, analyze costs, and implement cost-reduction measures to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Recruit, hire, train, and manage plant personnel, including supervisors and production workers. This involves motivating the team, resolving conflicts, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Coordinate and oversee the maintenance and repair of production equipment and the facility to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Collect and analyze production data and performance metrics (Key Performance Indicators) to identify areas for improvement and report progress to the organization.
Requirements:
- B.S. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree required. Will consider a related Science degree with appropriate chemical industry experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment required along with previous Operations supervisory/leadership experience
- Ability and willingness to perform hands on tasks as needed
- Strong ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team effectively
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly identify and resolve operational issues and supply chain glitches
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear direction, reporting, and collaboration across departments and with external stakeholders
