Chemical Compliance and Technical Service Specialist

Duties:  

  • Answer Customer technical inquires by phone, email, etc.
  • Make product suggestions to customers.
  • Assist in analysis of samples submitted by the laboratory and sales team by a variety of techniques and analytical instrumentation for field requests.
  • Evaluate new, updated and competitor products and prepare reports on the results.
  • Prepare written reports upon completion of all analysis and deliver to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in maintaining the Quality Assurance Program by working with Laboratory Management and Quality Control.
  • Coordinate off-site manufacturing records, data integrity, and formula updates/audits.
  • Aid in the development of analytical procedures for field personnel (new products or updating old procedures).
  • Prepare product samples for verification of QC specifications, process testing or verification projects.
  • Log incoming experimental raw materials and competitor samples; maintain MSDS records.
  • Need to be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Read and understand educational material (i.e., relevant research papers, technical journals and trade magazines).
  • Maintain well-documented records of all experiments and tests in a laboratory notebook.
  • Keep all relevant technical databases current.
  • Perform work duties in a safe manner, ensuring safety to self and co-workers.
  • Complete regulatory forms and reports, as well as the assignment of proper regulatory classifications (EPA, HAZMAT, DOT, REACH etc..).
  • Comply with the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard and preparation of related documents.
  • Author and update product Material Safety Data Sheets and Product Data Sheets.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Attending conferences and seminars is possible if interest is there.
  • This position may go to customers, but not very often.
  • Extensive training will be provided.

Requirements:

  • AS/BS Chem or non-degreed with experience
  • Experience with customer support, QC/analytical work, familiarity with regulatory bodies and regulations for the chemical industry and MSDS maintenance
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Suite and database entry, entering information into salesforce. They have dedicated system for SDS as well
  • Physical testing, wet chemistry, friction testing, FTIR, GC/MS would be great. They don’t have one on site yet but would potentially invest if someone had the right skillset and proved need
