Job Description

Family-owned company in business for 90 years is seeking an Account Manager based in Ohio to work with new and existing customers and grow market share! This person should be motivated to partner with new clients and identify how the company can best serve their needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage and grow existing sales territory in Northeast US and Canada.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations for customers and deliver in a professional manner with composure in front of an audience.
  • Use value selling techniques to find customer’s unmet needs that align with product capabilities.
  • Respond to internal and external customers promptly (within 24hrs).
  • Overnight travel 3-4 days week to customer locations. (Company provides mileage reimbursement).
  • Manage travel budget by scheduling meetings and travel in advance to minimize travel cost and maximize options.
  • Expand the number of customer contacts with each visit. Sell deep and wide.
  • Be inquisitive. Know the customer’s business, seek to find their competitors and their suppliers.
  • Write professional emails, sales call reports, memos, etc. and communicate with internal and external customers using clear, concise and accurate terminology.
  • Develop strategies to grow business through customer interviews, relationship building and by gathering market information.
  • Work as a team with internal technical support specialists, chemists, and other support personnel where it will drive a positive sales result.
  • Provide product recommendations for customer testing.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed or directed to grow profitable sales.
  • Occasional weekend entertainment with customers required (sporting events, etc.)

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field strongly preferred; 8 years industry selling experience may be considered as an alternate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a sales representative in a technical field or similar position.
  • Basic understanding of value selling vs price selling.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to speak with confidence and respect, at all levels.
  • Experience with scale up/ production runs at customer locations strongly preferred.
  • Self-motivated, independent and resilient.
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Experience with adhesive technology is a strong plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects as the team lead, set up internal and external meetings to advance projects.
  • Must have driver’s license, passport and own and maintain a reliable vehicle suitable for customer transport, when needed.
