Job Description
Pay Rate: $75,000-$125,000 annually based on experience
Benefits available include medical, dental, vision, etc.
Established and growing company is seeking an experienced Chemist to perform a variety of duties involved with the formulation of high quality industrial coatings for customers. Management is focused on growth and making positive changes!
- Formulate products that translate easily into the production environment.
- Assist in production troubleshooting.
- Assist customers with line trials and audits.
- Conduct all required tests, extractions, and studies including calculating weight solids, volume solids, VOCs, and formula pricing.
- Accurately record all experimental data as directed.
- Perform color matching visually without use of a spectrophotometer.
- Comply with all standard operating procedures at all times.
- Maintain a vigilant commitment to safety at all times.
- Ensure all samples are properly disposed of and follow environmental regulations.
- Utilize all equipment as intended and maintain it as needed.
- Perform lab maintenance activities as required.
- Conduct regular equipment calibrations.
- Participate in quality audits and all required training.
- Consistent, accurate recording and reporting of data/results.
- Travel up to 25% to customer sites.

Job Requirements
- BS Chemistry
- 5+ years of industry experience formulating industrial coatings and paints.
- Experience with solvent based coatings. Preferred resin systems are alkyd, acrylic, epoxy, and urethane.
- Experience in customer trials and line audits
- Experience troubleshooting batches and making raw material substitutions.
