Job Description

  • Develop new coating formulations for various industry segments.
  • Adjust product formulation as needed to comply with customer specifications (color, gloss, hide, appearance, etc.).
  • Support QC and Manufacturing with troubleshooting product processing on new formulations.
  • Preparing written reports on physical and analytical testing containing data, observations, and experimental work descriptions.
  • Interface with Sales, Technical Service, and Customers on assigned projects.
  • Evaluate and/or troubleshoot formulations and raw materials for performance, (improved efficiency from lab to production) and cost savings. Work with raw material vendors on new or problem materials.
  • Make raw material substitutions on production batches as needed.
  • Ability to supervise and direct work of a small team 2-3 people.
  • Participating in and/or assisting with matters such as project reviews, analysis of data, work planning, preparation of material files and inventories, safety committee meetings, and monthly safety inspections.

 

Salary

$90,000 - $130,000

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related preferred;
  • Minimum 5+ years’ R&D Chemistry Formulation experience in industrial coatings.
  • Experience working in a coatings manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership skills – this position will oversee a small team of lab technicians.
  • This person must be hands-on in the lab!
  • Good team player with strong communication skills, both verbal and written are required.
