Compounding Chemist
Growing manufacturer in business for 40 years is seeking an experienced rubber compounding Chemist who can have a big impact on R&D. Company was founded by technical experts and they are on the leading edge of development in their field!
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand internal and customer requirements in order to translate them into rubber compound specifications
- Develop and modify rubber compounds for a variety of power transmission applications
- Conduct research and development activities to develop new, and improve existing, rubber compounds
- Conduct lab-scale experiments to evaluate the performance and physical properties of rubber compounds
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, test results, and formulations
- Analyze and interpret test data to optimize performance and cost though adjustment formulations or processes improvements
- Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and regulatory requirements related to rubber formulation
- Monitors the quality of rubber compounds, calendared components, and raw material used in production
- Troubleshoot and resolve product and process related issues in collaboration with the Production, Quality Assurance and Product Development teams
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment
- Participate as needed at customer and supplier meetings to support technical discussions

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field
- Proven experience working as a Rubber Formulation Chemist or similar role
- In-depth knowledge of rubber materials, polymer chemistry, and compounding techniques
- Strong understanding of rubber formulation principles, including compounding ingredients, fillers, curing systems, and processing methods
- Proficient in using laboratory equipment and analytical techniques to evaluate rubber properties, such as rheology, tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and aging characteristics
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations governing rubber materials and formulations
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research and development environment
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
