Corporate Director of QA

Would you like to be part of the best co manufacturer familiar classics to bold new flavors, clean formulations, and even plant-based recipes including sauces, dressings, gravies and dips?  Responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards of products through development and verification of food safety and quality systems.  Lead the team of Quality Assurance.  Develop quality policies that align with SQF code, improve current programs and implement new programs.  Oversee the entire Quality department for multiple facilities.  Competitive salary, benefits and perks.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and maintains systems to assure facility meets all SQF certification requirements, including commitment, document control and records, specifications, food safety and quality, verification, needs of personnel, building design and construction, HACCP and pre-requisite programs
  • Ensure that all SQF documents and records, manage Document Control system are reviewed
  • Create, manage, and ensure compliance to the Internal Audit Schedule, conduct supplier Audits
  • Accomplish food safety and quality assurance compliance and objectives by communication SQF expectations; planning, monitoring, reviewing, and coordinating policies and procedures, validation and verification
  • Manage the quality database, audit production quality and customer standards; system improvements and implementation. Ensure compliance by monitoring programs, policies and FROM Food Safety and Regulatory Manager procedures, SOPs, audits, documentation, improvement plans, training
  • Ensure that all Federal and State food legislation are maintained and updated
  • Partner with Sales Department to create and develop new ideas for products
  • Research and develop new menu items, flavors, including presentation of research findings to aid in the growth of the company
  • Oversee and coordinate the testing of new items and product launches from production to shipping
  • Develop, update, and maintain nutritional information for products, formulas for new products, internal standards manuals
  • Maintain responsibility for daily operations of the research lab, including cleanliness, safety, and scheduling of lab activities and events

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Food Safety, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or related field. Master’s degree preferred

Experience

  • 10 plus years of experience in food processing
  • Two years in a manufacturing environment under USDA and/or FDA
  • Two years facilitating food safety/quality related training events
  • Restaurant or food industry experience preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of food technology, flavoring, and food manufacturing processes

Certifications & Licenses

  • SQF Practitioner status required
  • Knowledgeable of FDA and/or USDA inspected manufacturing facilities

Other Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership in the areas of food safety, research and development, plant regulatory affairs
  • Ability to analyze processes of biological, chemical, and physical hazards with a thorough understanding of the science and support behind each type of hazard and each step of a production process
  • Proven ability to gain knowledge by tracking emerging trends in foods, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Laboratories), GLP (Good Laboratory Practices), regulatory requirements
  • Product innovation through a balance of strong culinary creativity and quantitative / analytical skills that produce results meeting consumer needs, fiscal standards, and operational soundness
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate and sell new concepts and research findings
  • Knowledge of food purchasing, distribution, logistics, manufacturing and packaging
