Defined Benefit Plan Administrator/Client Service

San Diego, CA 92110

Posted: 05/19/2019 Industry: Employee Benefits & Retirement Services Job Number: SC 5/19/19 #3 Pay Rate: $50,000 - $70,000

Provide client service to participants in small Defined Benefit plans. Most plans have 3 participants or fewer. Contact with participants is via phone and email. Participants are often often owners of small businesses with questions such as, "How do I reach my goals? How much money can I put into the plan?" There are very few questions about benefit payouts, and no questions about de-risking. Plans are cash balance and traditional DB plans.  The in-house actuarial team does the calculations and technical work on the plans. This is not an actuarial position. The most important criteria for success are strong client service and communication abilities and a basic knowledge of retirement plans. DB experience is preferred. But if you work only with DC plans, enjoy client service, and want to learn about DB plans, you should still apply. The company is willing to teach you about the basics of DB plans if you have DC experience only and if you have strong client communication skills.

This is an in-office position. This is not a telecommute position.

Ideally, 2+ years DB plan administration experience

Or 3+ years DC plan administration experience with an interest in learning about DB plans

Strong client communication skills via phone and email are a must for any candidate

You want to work in a professional, yet relaxed, positive-energy environment
