Director of Quality

The Director of Quality’s primary role is to drive the improvement of processes, results and quality within 2 production facilities within the Midwest.  Responsibilities to include:

  • The position provides leadership and direction for all quality assurance, quality control, and sensory program teams
  • The Quality Director is responsible for leading all areas of company’s Quality Teams with a focus on ensuring overall success of food safety compliance, the integrity of the company’s SQF based food safety and quality system and is a champion for the consistent quality of company’s products
  • Manage the Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams and enforce company standards and procedures guaranteeing compliance with federal, state and local regulators and audit certifications
  • Oversee all plant HACCP, pre-requisite quality programs, and all quality / food safety related programs to meet regulatory requirements
  • Work with operations leadership to assess, develop and implement the process and methodologies required to continuously reduce product variability and improve overall product quality. Generate reports describing QA activities, trends, and expenditures as well as communicate findings and action plans to appropriate parties
  • Champion quality and food safety initiatives to monitor and document product, facility and worker compliance

  • BS in Science
  • 10 years in Food Quality experience
  • 5 years of quality management experience
  • Director level with meat, yogurt or cheese processing environments
  • Demonstrate a passion for Food Safety and Quality
  • Flexible, self-disciplined and self-motivated, highly organized, energetic, goal focused, high integrity
  • Works well rolling-up-the-sleeves in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail, strong analytical skills, strategic and critical thinking skills, problem solving, trouble shooting ability
  • Results oriented and ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Previous experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Food Safety within a fresh food processing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of federal and state food industry regulations
  • Familiarity with GFSI standards
  • Proven manager, capable of coaching and developing a team
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and quality system requirements – SQF, HACCP, Good Manufacturing Process (GMP), etc.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and CAPA management
  • Internal audit experience
  • Lean Six Sigma and/or TPM trained a plus
  • Crisis management and business contingency plan experience
  • Sensory program implementation experience
  • Proficiency in computer programs / software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Net weight and QA Trends
