Director of Quality

Responsible for ensuring that all quality procedures in the dairy plant, documentation, records and auditing required by the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI / Safe Quality Food – SQF), regulatory agencies such as USDA – AMS, State & local Departments of Health and all Identity Preserved Foods are adhered to.

  • Schedule and conduct comprehensive quarterly reviews and audits at the plant as established by SQF procedures
  • Develop and implement updates and required Quality initiatives and programs for recurring major audits to ensure a smooth workflow
  • Direct reports include overseeing work of Regulatory and Labeling Manager and the QA Manager
  • Coordinate at the plant HACCP Plan meetings ensuring that each plan is maintained
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of quality and food safety training
  • Provide direct oversight to the quality requirements associated with their plant and Distribution Center
  • Oversee direct reports and evaluate their performance to assure that all policies, procedures, programs and systems are fully implemented
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the Controlled Documents and Controlled Records Corporate Folders and oversee / audit similar records at the plant level
  • Complete audits in compliance with guidelines established in the Supplier Quality Manual
  • Maintain records of Approved Supplier Documents and Audit Reports

  • Undergraduate degree in Biology, Dairy Science, Food Science or related field
  • 5+ years and direct Quality Systems / SQF GFSI food processing or manufacturing plant experience mandatory
  • Advanced HACCP, cGMP & SQF Training from a nationally recognized firm is a plus
  • Strong organizational, leadership and problem-solving skills along with the ability to work effectively with cross functional departments within the organization. Must be a self-starter and self-motivated.  Demonstrated proficiency using Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. is required.  Excellent written and verbal skills are a must
  • Highly detailed, perfection oriented and capable of working independently as well as leading a team. This position requires effectively influencing individuals over which there is no direct authority
