EHS Coordinator

This growing organization is looking for an EHS Coordinator to join their team to provide compliance and keep everyone safe.

EHS Coordinator partners safety efforts with each business unit and communicates details of safety conditions / behaviors with all levels of management using problem solving methodology, working with data analysis tools to identify trends, determining problem area root cause(s), generating potential action plans and monitoring progress in significant and critical areas, as well as track continuous improvement.  The EHS Coordinator is also expected to perform site visits, audits and EHS related inspections.

  • Responsible for EHS Systems integration with responsibility for functionality and performance
  • Responsible for Corporate EHS compliance and EHS topic leadership
  • Applies efforts to fully integrate EHS into the business processes and ensure reports, statistics, and KPI’s are reported on time to designated managers
  • Ensures understanding and measurable compliance of EHS system at all locations
  • Provides training and technical consulting to ensure active and compliant management of EHS affairs at each location
  • Troubleshoots / diagnoses EHS problems / hazards and implements solutions that are viable taking into account timing, expense, report ability, and volume of workers
  • Corporate contact for regulatory inspections associated with EHS compliance with regulatory agencies
  • Comprehend current knowledge of existing and emerging EHS laws and regulations. Advises changes or diligence needed to be in compliance
  • Maintains professional certifications and training requirements needed for the position

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

Education:

  • Associate Degree Occupation H&S, Environmental Sciences or equivalent mix of education and experience
  • Preferred Certifications: Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CHI), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)

Experience:

  • 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with direct tactical responsibilities, for the EHS Compliance function
  • Demonstrated ability to organize tasks, projects, information, and time so as to be efficient and effective
  • Working knowledge of Worker Compensation Claims tracking and reporting
  • Ability to engage and influence others to accept and use EHS best practices
  • Strong problem-solving disposition with added experience to work under pressure with self-direction
  • Expertise working with a mixed workforce of manufacturing and professional staff; they have different EHS needs and tolerances
  • Capable of recognizing EHS strategy while understanding the tactics to achieve
  • Expected to be able to work with others of varying authority levels as well as create trust among general staff relating to EHS initiatives and best practices
  • Comfortable and practiced facing regulatory agencies with audit documents and Q/A formats
  • Beyond reproach with honesty and ethics, able to navigate the resistant forces with calm and productive support and enforcement

Technology / Software:

  • Must be excellent in computer skills, particularly proficient with Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint, Power BI
  • Experience with Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Systems
  • Able to accurately maintain e-information as well as mine data out of systems into reports that are useful for making decisions, identifying trends, and determining EHS compliance

Communications:

Written & Oral:

  • Strong ability to write and speak clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles
  • Strong ability to get message across with the desired effect
  • Is effective in a variety of formal presentation settings; one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers, and other decision makers
  • Able to convey appropriate tone and intention to a wide audience
