Environmental, Health and Safety Manager

Global organization is looking for an EHS Manager for their manufacturing facility just north of Houston.

This position will report to the Regional EHS Sr. Manager, Americas. 

A member of the managerial staff, responsible to the Regional EHS Sr. Manager Americas for administration, planning, coordination, and implementation of all plant systems relating to environmental, health and safety.  Participates in formulating plant administrative practices and procedures as related to environmental, health and safety and helps coordinate such plant activities with other company locations or functions.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for the company in the United States.  In summary, as the Manager, EHS, you will:

  • Supervise the EHS team leads to ensure the Site continuously improves in safety, health, and environmental performance
  • Coordinate the EHS department’s efforts to ensure a safe and healthy environment for plant associates, contractors, as well as the neighboring communities
  • Direct the implementation of Federal, State, and local government policies and regulations in matters of environmental, health, and safety and assures compliance in all matters under his/her direction
  • Offer ideas for EHS systems improvements and works to implement systems and improvements within the scope of the department
  • Provide advice and counsel to plant management and acts as an advisor to the Plant Manager in all matters pertaining to environmental, health, safety and process safety of the site
  • Be responsible for the preparation and timely submission of the environmental, health, and safety expense, staffing, and investment budgets
  • Ensure that expenditures are appropriate and properly documented and within budget or appropriated amounts
  • Oversee implementation of Pollution Prevention Programs, identification of wastes and EH&S records retention
  • Prepare for and represents the facility during internal and external safety and environmental audits
  • Follow instructions and perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor
  • Assist other employees in accomplishment of company goals
  • Participate in and completes company-required training programs
  • Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company
  • Coordinate site emergency response and evacuation plans
  • EHS management and HS direct reports actively participate in the Emergency Response Team (ERT)

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred. Chemistry or related Science or Technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in a chemical manufacturing setting
  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs
  • Leadership competencies
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills are a necessity
  • Strong PC skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous interactions with local emergency responders (FD, Hazmat, etc.) are also a plus
  • Previous experience with CFATS security regulations a plus
