Environmental, Safety & Regulatory Manager

The Environmental, Safety & Regulatory Manager will maintain and implement compliance with International, Federal, State and Local EHS & transportation requirements.  Perform diversified job duties in the management of EHS requirements for the plant relative to permits and reports.  Address customer inquiries on product safety and regulatory matters.  Ensure the hazard communication program is carried out.  Keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations impacting business.  Serves as liaison to regulatory agencies and accompanies on-site inspectors.  Assure compliance with chemical control and transportation regulations.  Incumbent will ensure company meets current and future regulatory requirements to meet future business growth in global markets.

  • Author Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and manage the Hazard Communication Program to include distribution, customer questions and document updates for domestic and international markets
  • Provide product regulatory and information support to customers to include: chemical control inventories, food contact, questionnaires, automotive IMDS/GADSL, etc.
  • Classify finished goods to conform with ground and air transportation hazardous material requirements and harmonized tariff schedule for international shipments
  • Maintain TSCA compliance through record keeping and timely report filings. File REACH tracking report with their only representative.  Maintain inventory of on-site chemicals for reporting purposes
  • Identify regulatory issues of new products and communicate to R&D and marketing
  • Keep current company Environmental Management System, provide audit support and revise as needed
  • Generate data and assemble dossiers for notifications. Identify and liaise with laboratories, consultants and in-country sponsors
  • Maintain knowledge of all company products and manufacturing protocols relative to EHS compliance
  • Support of plant operations by keeping permits current, renewed, filing timely reports for water, air and wastes
  • Supervise plant safety coordinator in the conduct safety programs, meetings, reporting, training and maintenance of records

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HSE field and a BS degree in environmental industrial engineering / chemistry / occupational science or allied degree
  • Knowledge of standards, norms and regulations governing the paints and coatings industry. Experience with the WERCS authoring software is desirable
  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy, particularly with MS office and ERP database
  • Able to research and interpret new regulations and determine impact on business
  • Interact with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
  • Able to travel as necessary
