Executive Chef

Lead the culinary R&D and product development work to support the launch of new product across company’s product portfolio.  Serve as the company’s culinary resource and culinary ambassador to key customers and trade partners and support the processes that drive long-term sales and profit growth for company.  This position works cross functionally with other departments at company as well as with other corporate executive chefs or similar functions at the customer level to provide education on the quality, benefits, usages, and flavors of company products.  Responsibilities also include the development of the menu at the company’s Farm Stand Kitchen, the development of product offerings at the store and oversee the kitchen staff to ensure food production meets quality standards.  Some travel is required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the culinary R&D and support new product development for the fresh, frozen, and healthy snacking product platforms with concepts and formulations, including the translation of culinary concepts to commercial formulations
  • Develop culinary programs to educate their customers, consumers, and internal cross functional teams about the products they produce and how to best use and prepare to maximize flavor and experience
  • Develop education programs that are appropriate for customer site visits or meetings and support the sales and marketing departments in t hose meetings through planning, problem solving, consultation, and presentation
  • Provide executive culinary direction on a seasonally inspired menu and provide oversight of company Farm Stand Kitchen staff to ensure the highest quality and organic standards are being met.  Give direction on product offerings and menu development
  • Host paid consumer culinary events or dinners and cooking classes at the Farm Stand to showcase an organic seasonal farm to table menu
  • Contribute content as a chef influencer on company digital and social channels with a monthly blog and recipes

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keeps abreast of new developments in food trends, culinary arts, ethnic cuisine, retail and food markets by attending conferences, tradeshows, and through culinary based research and serve as the culinary expert
  • Research and utilize organic ingredients to create culinary concepts
  • Create and maintain a culinary database ensuring that recipes stay current and refresh as needed
  • Support the Farm Stand Kitchen as needed
  • Maintain a professional appearance and able to effectively interact with customers and company employees, be an advocate of product, identify opportunities, and create menu / recipe solutions
  • Assist in the development of romance copy, cooking, and handling instructions found on the primary display and information display panels of packaging and other purposes
  • Work with marketing communications to develop recipes for all new products that can be used on packages, brochures, demos, and their digital channels
  • Active participant in the company Trends group representing the culinary industry
  • Plan and cater any internal meetings or key customer meetings as needed
  • Perform chef demos as needed at consumer events

Requirements:

  • Culinary degree / certification preferred or related field from a four-year college or university
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the culinary field at a leading institution, hotel, restaurant, foodservice operation or food manufacturer
  • Proven success of running a kitchen, managing the staff, and the day to day operations
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
