Films Tech Service Chemist

The Films Tech Service Chemist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory experiments that support new application technology and technical service objectives. The end result is a body of work, which demonstrates the ability to effectively resolve a variety of moderately complex technical service challenges.  Work must include well written concise reports, which are completed on time and exhibit rigorous data analysis skills. 
  • Provide competent and efficient technical service to their customers
  • Resolving customer problems relating to the use of their technology and differentiating their company as a supplier within the TPU industry. End results are strong relationships with key customer contacts, prompt resolution of problems related to the use of their technology
  • Participate in Field Trials and effectively demonstrate their products and applications to existing and potential customers in the automotive and electrical markets
  • Operate and maintain industrial laboratory equipment. Incumbents must be competent on several pieces of equipment including laboratory testing, batch making, blending, extrusion, and injection molding machines.  These machines must be operated in accordance with written guidelines
  • Maintain a safe work environment by complying with all safety policies and procedures. Follow all safe work practices for personal, equipment use, and team member safety in both in-house and at customer facilities
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to US, Mexico and some to Brazil. There are about 60 people at this site with Sales, R&D and a small production group.  This person can move up within the Tech Service group or move up in R&D

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Plastic Engineering discipline, and a minimum of 5 years of technical experience in polymer / plastics industry
  • Working knowledge in polymer extrusion or injection molding
  • Knowledge in polyurethane or thermoplastic elastomer is a plus, but not required
  • Good understanding of market and customer needs
  • Good communication skills are required
  • PC literacy – skills in Word, Excel, and Power Point
