Food Safety Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:  The Food Safety Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, execution and implementation of key microbiology and food safety programs for the site, which include Raw Material Sampling Plan, Finished Product Sampling Plan, Environmental Monitoring and other food safety initiatives and certifications. The Food Safety Coordinator will perform key functions for quality and supply chain.  The Coordinator must be able to communicate and interact with all departments and levels of personnel and assimilate pertinent information and data. The Food Safety Coordinator is responsible to ensure all products produced at this site meets all local and federal regulations and is safe and wholesome. In addition, meets all requirements mandated by BRC

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure GMP and food safety requirements and policies are respected.
  • Ensure data is entered into the Quality Module of SAP accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the correct transactions in SAP are conducted and completed as required (releases, blocks, returns)
  • Issue Certificate of Analysis to customers and keep record of the history of recorded analysis results.
  • Perform trending analysis; identify non conformances and opportunities for improvement for raw material analysis, finished item analysis and the Environmental Monitoring Program.
  • Management of customer documentation requirements for products being supplied from the facility, including bills of lading, packing lists, delivery notes, and quality certificates.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain to ensure incoming ingredients, chemicals, and packaging materials are sampled, inspected, and approved for use in the plant.
  • Responsible for movement of inventory from outside warehouses to plant.
  • Participate in third party and internal audits and their preparation and follow up as assigned (BRC, Customer, and Regulatory)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Food Science, Biology, Microbiology and/or Chemistry
  • 3+ years’ experience as QA/QC including experience in the food industry
  • Strong personal computer skill i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point, SAP
  • Excellent communication skills and a team player
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Understanding of government regulations in relation to food processing
  • Knowledge and experience of BRC Certification and/or other GFSI audit schemes
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, Environmental Monitoring and microbiological testing
  • Logistics experience a plus
  • Must be willing to work weekend and evening shifts as required
