Food Scientist, Commercialization – Research & Development
We are currently looking for a talented Food Scientist to join our Research & Development team, reporting to the Sr. Director of Research & Development and working closely with our Marketing & Operations teams. This position will be primarily responsible for providing technical leadership to continue to improve our current product portfolio & to drive development of new product categories from bench, to pilot scale up, and through full commercialization.

Essential Job Functions
Working with guidance and support from the Sr. Director of R&D and R&D Managers, but with expected autonomy you will:
- Provide direction for new product categories and process development from bench to pilot scale-up, and through full commercialization
- Work cross-functionally to support continuous improvement and optimization initiatives of current products and manufacturing lines
- Develop testing methods and data analysis tools to help build in-depth understanding of products, ingredients, processing conditions and equipment used in company operation
- Support creation of new processes and procedures as the company grows
- Think critically, balance multiple tasks, and be flexible wearing whatever “hat” is needed to support cross-functional teams and help meet company goals
- Contribute to our knowledge base, thought leadership, and company culture through your unique character and skills

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or Chemical / Biological Systems Engineering required. Master’s Degree preferred
- 3+ years of relevant experience in food manufacturing, food product development, laboratory and/or pilot plant settings
- Experience with commercialization and product launches
- Experience with process development and continuous improvement
- While the company has their own custom equipment, knowledge and experience with pasteurizers and extrusion would be helpful
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
- Self-starter and intellectually curious. Comfortable with ambiguity
- Experience working in small and large companies, start-ups preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
