Ink In-Plant Technical Service Manager

The Ink In-Plant Technical Service Manager will perform basic sales and high level technical support on-site while leading a team of 10 in low-medium complexity print operations with moderate sales volume.  Will be required to support efforts to maintain and grow wallet share, utilizing Presidents Reporting for continuous improvement projects, frequently leveraging CTS personnel efforts and techniques, as well as inventory and sf.com IT tools.  May be asked to provide a small percentage of color matching, formulating, and small batch blending support on-site at the given customer location.  Certify quality control of inks to ensure the products meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.  Maintain detailed production and quality control records (workbook 2.0).  Support customer’s schedule through production coordination.  Work safely and maintain good housekeeping.  Provide strong press side technical service, troubleshoot problems and provide detailed and consistent technical reporting.

  • Certify and manage business so that proper SOP’s and techniques are used to insure quality of inks produced, on time, per customer requirements and scheduling
  • Perform basic sales functions related to insuring customer needs are met with regard to administrative functions such as ordering, shipping, receiving, pricing, etc. Also, maintain first hand awareness of customer successes and challenges, insuring that there is a solution (competitive barrier) for customer concerns.  This task includes use of IT solutions (sf.com) for accurate depiction of the state of the customer in all communications internal
  • Provide strong on-site technical support of product trials, and success with all customer print orders and initiatives
  • Perform occasional color matching and in-plant support as needed, primarily during vacation and other backfill required capacity issues
  • Insure that all company employees are working in a safe and accident free manner pursuant to company training and initiatives
  • Maintain constant vigil and accountability over quality of life (o/t) initiatives and goals

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of industry experience; degree preferred with some technical sales background
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office and Salesforce.com; SAP exposure a plus
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer facing position that requires a higher degree of interpersonal skills to be successful
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skillset with strong creative problem solving skills
  • Strong pressroom and printing process knowledge
  • Strong organizational skillset as this position requires a lot of scheduling
  • Strong technical support background
  • Experience in an In-Plant setting
  • Management of a small team
  • Product trial experience
