Inkjet Ink Formulation Chemist
Opportunity to lead projects with a global ink manufacturer! Work on a collaborative, positive team in a growing market segment. Management focuses on teaching skills necessary for career advancement.
Analyzes, designs, plans, coordinates, and leads assigned activities in support of R&D activities including new product development, problem resolution, and process, product, or formulation improvement. Provides technical guidance and leadership to cross-functional teams and generally performs as an independent individual contributor.
- Develop and qualify aqueous inkjet inks for textile and graphic printing through innovation and rapid lab evaluation
- Manage projects focused on ink formulation design and printing performance while delivering products within project timeline and target cost
- Provide technical leadership for formulation design, raw materials evaluation, testing procedure development
- Identify and qualify critical ink components including pigment dispersions, resins, surfactants etc. to deliver or improve ink performance
- Closely work with suppliers for critical ink components to apply new material technologies to ink development
- Collaborate with commercial team and customers to design and evaluate ink products, quickly improve product performance based on testing results and feedback to meet customer’s needs
- Provide support and guidance for product scale-up by collaborating with QA and process engineers to validate product manufacture feasibility including establishing product specifications, implementing new testing procedures, and troubleshooting scale-up related issues
- Engage with key customers to seek feedback and provide technical support to address ink application issues in the field
- Document test results, specifications, and procedures in a standard professional format

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- Degree in chemistry, or related discipline with 3 years’ industry experience
- Strong formulation skill in aqueous or UV inkjet ink
- Knowledge of inkjet printing systems and applications, ability to evaluate all components of inks and assess printing performance against defined sets of requirements
- Knowledge of Polymer Science, Adhesion, Surface Science, Paint and Coating Technology, Imaging Science, Photography, Digital Imaging, or equivalent disciplines
- Knowledge of analytical methodologies required to design a formulation or process
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex problems and make recommendations based on findings
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute various Experimental Analysis scenarios
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of Patents processes and procedures
- Ability to communicate across multiple departments and levels
- Ability to work independently and use good judgment in making sound business decisions and recommendations
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- You are technically savvy, analytical, detail oriented, curious, and experimental
- You enjoy a collaborative work environment, where you’ll interact with a wide variety of departments, but also like a balance of autonomous work as well
- Research comes naturally to you, as you thrive when problem solving and are determined to find solutions
- You are communicative and appreciate being the subject matter expert
