Lead Project Engineer
Job Description
Developer and supplier of innovative polymers, including synthetic elastomers and specialty chemicals has a Lead Project Engineer position open. This Lead Project Engineer is part of the company Corporate Project Engineer group.
This position is an addition to the group. Will assist on multi-million dollar capital projects for the facility.
Job Description:
Responsible for the planning, procurement, execution and completion of mid-to-large projects. Supervises project field installation and startups to ensure established safety rules and procedures are followed, projects are completed on time and within approved project cost. Other responsibilities include:
Design, implement, and communicate an operational plan for completing projects including project schedules, budgets, and forecasts. Document plan, assemble appropriation requests, and obtain organizational project approvals.
- Prepare engineering designs and work specifications
- Review/approve drawings including flow sheets, isometrics, P&IDs, layout drawings, and vendor submittals
- Develop RFP packages with appropriate selection criteria and metrics
- Ensure safe implementation of project construction by enforcing the established safety rules and procedures
- Oversee contractor activities to insure they comply with established company standards.
- Monitor progress and performance against the project plan. Resolve operational problems and minimize delays
- Collaborate with other engineers and technical personnel; coordinate their specialized contributions to the development of the project
- Identify, evaluate, monitor, and report project risk according to company risk assessment policy
- Lead/participate in MOC process, safety reviews, pre-startup safety reviews to ensure successful project execution and close out
- Maintain project documentation, project close out and documentation turnover to operations and maintenance

Job Requirements
The successful engineering candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering ONLY.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project management.
- Must have experience in the Chemical, Specialty Chemical, Petrochemical or Refining industry.
- PSM experience preferred.
- Proficiency in SAP is preferred.
- Project Management Certification (PMP) is desirable.
