Position Overview: We are seeking a proficient and experienced Legal Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of experience in legal administrative support, with a strong emphasis on drafting correspondence, proofreading legal documents, and managing various administrative tasks. This role offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,000 to $90,000 annually, with the opportunity for hybrid work arrangements after a 90-day training period.

Responsibilities:

  1. Drafting Correspondence: Efficiently draft routine correspondence and emails based on handwritten notes provided by attorneys, ensuring accuracy and adherence to professional standards.
  2. Proofreading and Editing: Review and edit attorney correspondence for grammar, punctuation, and formatting consistency. Proficiency in document editing and formatting in Microsoft Word is essential.
  3. Track Changes Management: Occasionally edit documents using the "Track Changes" feature in Microsoft Word, ensuring precise version control and collaborative editing processes.
  4. Blackline/Compare Documents: Compare two documents for variances, utilizing both Microsoft Word and third-party software when necessary.
  5. Document Conversion and Formatting: Convert documents between PDF and Word formats as needed, and ensure consistent formatting for clarity and professionalism.
  6. Email Correspondence Management: Manage attorney's email correspondence, including sending emails on behalf of the attorney to identified recipients. Conduct occasional research to update contact information and prevent miscommunication.
  7. Contact Management: Monitor correspondence and client materials for contact changes, such as board minutes. Verify changes with attorneys and ensure accurate contact information is maintained.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of four years of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a legal setting.
  • Proficiency in drafting routine correspondence and emails from handwritten notes.
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including experience with Track Changes.
  • Familiarity with document comparison tools and ability to adapt to different software platforms.
  • Experience in document conversion between PDF and Word formats.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
