Maintenance Manager

The maintenance manager directs maintenance personnel and operations ensuring production equipment operation is safe, efficient and unplanned down-time is minimal.

Functions of the Position:

  • Hires, trains, evaluates and manages the maintenance team including supervisors, mechanics, millwrights, technicians and machine builders (25%)
  • Develops and manages preventative maintenance, repair schedules and maintenance inventory. Responsible for continuous improvement of maintenance programs (20%)
  • Manages and prioritizes R&M spending and labor costs. Develops and drives maintenance performance metric results (15%)
  • Manages equipment / parts purchasing and contract services as necessary. Works with purchasing department on negotiation and any contract work as needed (10%)
  • Coordinates with sanitation, production and quality control on any scheduling issues and immediate needs (10%)
  • Works with engineering department, assists with ay new equipment design, planning and installation (10%)
  • Assists with additional duties and responsibilities as needed (10%)
    • Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
    • Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality
    • Responsible for immediate reporting all food safety and quality issues to management
    • Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills and information within assigned team and across functional areas
    • Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical regimen preferred
  • Five or more years’ experience in maintenance management in the food industry including supervisory experience
  • General knowledge of plumbing, electric, machine building, PLC’s, and community codes
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical education in electronics or PLC preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Skills and Competencies:

  • Implementation and use of CMMS software
  • Advanced understanding of utilities systems, troubleshooting in electronics, food manufacturing equipment, and engineering
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills
