Manager of Application Development

In this role with you lead company’s Application Development team within the Innovation Group.  The manager will lead a team of scientists to support longer term growth projects regarding stabilizer technologies and their use in various food, beverage and consumer and industrial applications.

Projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • The development of new applications with existing company products that require several weeks to months to complete
  • Evaluation of the functional attributes that new products / new molecules with defined chemistries bring to finished applications using a customer value creation methodology to guide experimentation
  • Supporting larger technology initiatives with cross-functional teams (i.e., Technical Service, Sales, Fermentation Science / Processing R&D, Business Development, etc.)
  • To lead a team of technical professionals targeting innovative development in the food, consumer and industrial, and personal care industries
  • This role will have broad expertise in a range of applications, a thorough understanding of company ingredients as well as other stabilizers and ingredients, and an understanding of typical industry processes used in various application segments. Collaboration with internal R&D departments and outside partners is critical

  • MS in Food Science with minimum of 5-7 years of related industry experience of BS in Food Science with 8-10 years’ relevant industry experience
  • Requires technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: food science, carbohydrate chemistry. Consumer and industrial applications knowledge a plus
  • Understands competitive products and most-likely-alternatives for strategic application segments
  • Ability to lead a team, as well as participate and lead technical project teams where resources are deployed from different groups
  • Support product manager and marketing to develop new products and literature for new product launches
  • Travel to seminars, conferences, trade shows and customers will be required periodically to gather industry-wide insights
  • Work with the broader team to assess partnerships and/or alliances with Universities and external companies that fit our strategy
  • Requires strong people and project management skills
