Job Description

Microbiologist

The Microbiologist will develop and conduct microbiological testing in R&D lab and occasional plant manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply aseptic techniques and follow standard operating procedures daily
  • Prepare and maintain media and reagents needed for testing
  • Perform microbiological testing using appropriate techniques including:
  • Quantitative and Qualitative analysis of samples
  • Isolation and Identification of isolates
  • Challenge and Shelf-life studies
  • Conduct microbial plant audits
  • Develop and implement new methods as necessary
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate results through reports and technical presentations
  • Organize the lab including supply inventory, calibrations, cleaning, and maintenance of the lab equipment
  • Establish, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that the equipment is properly cleaned, calibrated, standardized and adequate for testing
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures
  • Proactively attempts to prevent all accidents and eliminate all unsafe conditions
  • Demonstrate management’s commitment to safety

Other Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work on teams and independently
  • Ability to travel 5% of the time
  • Ability to apply fundamental technical understanding to interpret and analyze data to reach clear conclusions
  • Ability to use and troubleshoot technical issues and instruments
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize and manage complex projects
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • MS Office proficiency: Excel, PowerPoint, Word

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • Microbiology subject matter expert
  • Ability to plan and execute experimental protocols
  • Working knowledge of BAM, AOAC, USP, etc.
  • Experience with Method Validation and related documentation

Education:

  • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Microbiology as primary field of study
  • 6+ years of experience preferred
