Job Summary

We are recruiting on a PSM Engineer position with a chemical company in the Stevens Point WI area.
This position oversees process safety management for the plant site. Will utilize process engineering skills to improve process safety, resolve process safety actions & manage process safety projects. 

The PSM Engineer will ensure the plant is in compliance with process safety management (PSM) practices:

  • OSHA – Process Safety Management (CFR.1910.119)
  • EPA – Risk Management Program
  • Responsible Care Codes – American Chemical Council


  • Coordinate the plant Process Safety Management (PSM) program
  • Prepare/review status reports with Leadership team to maintain compliance & focus areas
  • Support the plant in development /completion of PSM related actions
  • Provide risk resolution guidance
  • Develop, update, & implement plant PSM procedures
  • Audit for compliance
  • Coordinate maintenance of the plant’s process safety info
  • Identify/ensure compliance with recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEP) related to process safety
  • Coordinate the revalidation of plant PHAs
  • Facilitate PHAs for plant changes/PHA revalidations when required
  • Facilitate completion of Pre-Startup Safety & Environmental Reviews (PSSERs) at the plant
  • Champion the Management of Change system
  • Review proposed plant changes; provide guidance on when to conduct PHAs for plant changes
  • Participate in investigations of process safety incidents
  • Site Leader for PSM audits
  • Coordinate the plant’s consequence risk assessment for worst-case & alternative release scenarios
  • Assist with preparation of reports as required by govt, regulatory agencies, & associations
  • Keep up to date on current/pending legislation in PSM
  • Support Capital Project PSM Compliance (facilitate PHAs, PSSERs, action tracking & closure)


  • B.S. Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a PSM manufacturing environment desired
  • Training history in Process Safety Management principles including courses and/or conferences would be ideal
