Senior Personal Care Formulations Chemist
Job Description
Want to elevate your Formulation Skills in Cosmetics? Ready to work in an Innovation Team? This is a Growing company that makes an ingredient used in Personal Care products. Work in newly acquired Lab Space to develop formulated products for demonstration and testing to support customer needs!
• Lead overall formulation strategy by managing formulation projects with input from Commercial team.
• Develop sunscreens, color cosmetics and other personal care products containing zinc oxide in a variety of forms.
• Prepare samples of a range of formulation types (e.g. emulsions, and balms) using cosmetic laboratory equipment.
• Develop in-vitro SPF test methods for in house testing and work with external testing labs
• Perform batch and stability testing on formulations.
• Perform and record detailed physical assessments of formulation characteristics to determine the acceptability of the batch.
• Support innovation projects by designing and conducting experiments
• Support technical marketing efforts as needed by preparing samples, writing or review technical documents, etc.
• Accurately record all data from studies in laboratory notebooks, spreadsheets, etc.
• Work according to documented procedures, polices, and safety standards.
• Visit customers and conduct Voice of Customer interviews to identify unmet customer needs. Translate unmet needs into research projects that generate products that fulfills the customer’s need while generating an enhanced profit margin.
• Attend conferences to represent the brand globally as Technical Service support to Commercial.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science with a degree in Cosmetic Science or Chemistry preferred or related field from four-year college or university. 5 plus years of Prior professional experience in formulation of skincare, sunscreen, color cosmetics is required, 10 or more years is preferred.
- Understanding economics, business practices, operational and construction costs and practices, government regulations and multiple cultures.
- Economic and practical dynamics of the zinc business.
- Experience with multicultural workforce and environments.
- Strong working knowledge of inventory control systems.
