Polymer Synthesis Chemist – Urethanes

The Polyurethanes Chemist will be responsible to:

  • Develop and testing raw materials for use in the formulation technology platforms to support building foams and Coatings businesses
  • Modify polymers to improve performance, stability or cost parameters
  • Research developments in industry and report findings to management
  • Ability to manage projects both independently without direction and collaboratively within the group

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. Preference given to those with an MS/PhD degree in chemistry
  • 4-5 years of small-scale synthesis in an R&D and manufacturing lab
  • Knowledge of useable polyols, isocyanates, catalysts and appropriate additives in developing foam
  • Have a proven track record of assisting in the development of formulas for novel high- performance materials
  • Ability to interact with production to transfer technology from the lab
  • Ability to interact with sales to effectively communicate technical information
  • Ability to write thorough reports and provide updates to laboratory director
  • Experience in project planning and taking projects from concept to completion
  • Strong project management skills
  • High attention to accuracy and quality
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Be a high performer, self-motivated and possess a high level of energy
