Principal Scientist – Clinical & Clinical & Pharmacokinetics

(Nutraceutical Ingredients)

The key duties and responsibilities of the Principal Scientist will include the following:

• Lead the design, development, and execution of clinical studies to evaluate the efficacy and safety of functional ingredients
• Develop and oversee pharmacokinetic (PK) strategies to assess ingredient bioavailability, metabolism, and dose-response relationships
• Collaborate with external research partners and CROs to ensure high-quality, timely study execution
• Translate clinical and PK data into actionable insights to support marketing claims, product positioning, and customer engagement
• Evaluate and navigate the intellectual property (IP) landscape, including patent review, white space identification, and innovation strategy
• Partner cross-functionally with R&D, regulatory, marketing, and commercial teams to align scientific initiatives with business objectives
• Support the development of technical documentation, publications, and scientific communications
• Stay current on emerging research, competitive activity, and regulatory trends within the nutraceutical and functional ingredient space

Salary

$140,000 - $170,000

Requirements / Skills:

• PhD in Pharmacology, Nutritional Biochemistry, Food Science, or a related scientific discipline with a focus on pharmacokinetics
• 5+ years of experience within a branded ingredient company or nutraceutical CRO environment
• Strong expertise in ingredient pharmacokinetics, including study design and data interpretation
• Proven experience designing and managing human clinical trials
• Demonstrated understanding of intellectual property strategy and competitive landscape analysis
• Ability to translate complex scientific data into clear, commercially relevant insights
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional and external teams
