Job Description

Our client is looking for a Process Controls Engineer at their facility near Spartanburg, SC. This person will be responsible for maintaining the process control systems at this Zinc facility. Will be is responsible for plant programming activities, including, but not limited to, performing program changes, maintaining proper documentation of changes, implementing software updates training maintenance and operators on control systems, and ensuring efficient use of control systems and related equipment functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for Siemens (Tia Portal and Step 7), Allen Bradley (MicroLogix and CompactLogix) and ABB S800xa PLC hardware as well as PLC’s including remote IO using Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Device net and S7 connections.
  • Provide support for control systems including SCADA’s, graphic design, & web services.
  • Provide support for Siemens PCS7 Hardware, Software, and Configuration including OS Server, OS Client, Web server, Redundancy troubleshooting, and Remote IO and Profibus network support.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to the above systems.
  • Identify/implement projects to address control system reliability.
  • Lead control system upgrade projects as well as installation of new control systems.
  • Manage control system service contracts to return the best value.
  • Implement control strategies/programming used to interface with and control physical devices.
  • Configure and design custom graphic displays and trends.
  • Maintain system documentation / change log information.
  • Troubleshoot/provide technical support for system hardware, software, network, and instrument bus technologies as needed.
  • Provide specification information and commissioning support for instrumentation.
  • Develop/maintain instrumentation standards to minimize hardware variances.
  • Participate in/drive the management of change process.
  • Implement projects as identified.

Job Requirements

Requirements
B.S., Electrical or Chemical Engineering or Computer Science
Understanding of P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams
Understanding of electrical elementary and loop diagrams
Ability to troubleshoot controls
Experience programming DCS systems (Siemens PCS7) would be ideal

Experience programming PLC systems (Siemens TIA Portal & Step 7, Allen Bradley/ABB) would be ideal
