Product Developer

Position Overview:

The Product Developer will be responsible for all products under this amazing companies second largest brand.  Responsibilities will include recipe/brand maintenance, cost savings initiatives, and NPD in addition to cross training into process engineering.  Strong technical knowledge of fats and oils and strong laboratory and pilot plant practices are necessary to be successful in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously for the development of new products as requested by cross-function team members that meet consumer expectations, cost, product claims and timing goals with manager guidance.
  • Leads the implementation of these products in the plant or contract packer.
  • Identify and lead productivity initiatives related to product and processes within the brand.
  • Support ingredient and supplier validations and oversee stability shelf-life testing.
  • Assist in the development of evaluation strategies to ensure the success of current products as well as researching new technologies ensuring future success.
  • Showcase a strong knowledge and ownership of the science behind the processes utilized in the R&D lab, pilot plant and plant.
  • Is an active participant in industry associations.
  • Work alongside the analytical lead to evaluate current and future analytical measures.

Salary

$120,000 - $130,000

Job Requirements

Experience, Skills, Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Chemistry or related field required, M.S. or PhD preferred, however experience will be considered when determining qualified candidates
  • 5-10 years of experience in the Food industry with an emphasis on research and development or process engineering required
  • Fats and Oils expertise is a must
  • Strong leadership and self-initiative skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence others
  • Ability to lead and participate in cross functional teams
