Responsible for managing and completing small capital projects. Will oversee the engineering and construction of these small cap projects by organizing and controlling all elements of the project. Assist as a project team member on larger capital projects.

Job Functions:

  • Develop project scope, support project cost estimating, prepare funding request documents, and propose an execution strategy that best matches the resources and benefits case.
  • Execute productivity projects as a member of a project team
  • Assist with project management including project scope, equipment and process design, technical evaluation, equipment procurement, project implementation, project cost management for small cap projects
  • Coordinate field construction and installation activities by working with multiple contractors and vendors
  • Develop, maintain and communicate project schedule, cost reports, project status reports
  • Support field in expediting schedule, completion of field paperwork, expediting materials
  • Support Project Manager or management communication regarding project schedules
  • Maintain contractor and vendor relationships
  • Develop project specific Safety Programs in coordination with Safety Manager and Project Manager
  • Collaborate with Project Foreman to prepare and submit Change Orders to the contractor
  • Assist and support Project Manager by attending project meetings with General Contractor, Owner, and others
  • Attend and setup punch list walk-through as needed; compile the punch list and follow up as needed
  • Provide handover package to the owner/operators at the end of the project (record drawings, O&M, warranties)
  • Assist Project Manager to make sure the project is 100% closed out with Accounting



  • BS in Engineering required; Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in a project engineering or field engineer role preferably in the chemical industry
  • Prior experience managing small projects or turnarounds is preferred
  • Prior experience supporting execution of capital projects including scope development, design, execution, and start-up/commissioning
  • Scheduling software such as Primavera or MS Projects is required
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to work in groups, interacting with plant operators, maintenance and I&E technicians, production engineers, plant supervision, contractors, and line management
  • Ability to generate precise and accurate data/reports without significant supervision; ability to error-check own work products
