Job Description
Quality Assurance Manager
As the Quality Assurance Manager, you will provide necessary leadership and technical knowledge to ensure superior laboratory services, improve product quality and plant reliability through our Quality & Food Safety Systems. The Quality Assurance Manager supports the plants health and safety objectives, manages department costs within budget while looking for ways to lower analytical and quality related costs. This position is the management representative for Quality & Food Safety and training is equivalent to PCQI.

- Ensure ESH Compliance
- Unsafe conditions are recognized and corrected
- Preventative programs are in place to maintain safe conditions
- Ensure compliance with MOC process
- Ensure compliance with required product validations
- Attend monthly safety meeting and completes regulatory ESH&T requirements
- Perform job safely, in an environmentally sound manner and in accordance with all cGMP requirements
- Actively support the plant ESHST goals and plans
Manage Quality Assurance & Food Safety Systems
- Manage all quality requirements regarding FSSC22000, HARPC, FSMA, ISO 9001, NSF, cGMPs, NF, Halal, Kosher, HACCP and Food Defense
- Serve as site food safety team leader
- Promote continuous improvement in cGMP’s requirements
- Serve as plant lead for all quality-related regulatory / customer audits
- Facilitate Management Review Meetings / Quality and Food Safety Meetings
- Manage quality and food safety records
- Manage external and internal food safety communications
- Manage / participate in supplier audits & visits
- Interface with R&D / Sales to support customer needs
Manage Quality Control
- Full laboratory oversight
- Facilitate clear, concise communication flow between plant manufacturing departments and laboratory
- Ensure analytical documentation (lab results, calibration data, etc.) is orderly and accessible
- Coordinate sample requests
- Manage nonconforming material, work with manufacturing management to determine disposition
Other Duties
- Provide support to the site regarding quality / food safety issues
- Participate in various community / volunteering activities
- Support implementation of projects across the plant
- Manage department costs, develop annual department budgets / forecasts
Manage Staff Development
- Provide effective leadership to the lab and quality departments (training, development, set expectations, regular performance feedback)
- Regularly communicate business goals, objectives and desired outcomes

Salary
$84,000 - $116,000
Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- B.A. or B.S. in Food degree, Chemical degree or equivalent
- Three to five years’ experience managing people
- Three to five years’ experience in analytical laboratory or equivalent
- Food manufacturing experience required
- Organizational leadership, teaching, team building, staffing
- Listening, oral and written communication
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to build and manage systems
- Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) understanding
- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) understanding
- Halal and Kosher certification requirements understanding
- Capable of motivating people to lead change and improvement efforts
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
- Ability to safety exit out of the plant in the event of an emergency
