Quality Assurance Specialist (Plant)

The Quality Assurance Specialist provides the necessary leadership and technical knowledge to ensure a safe work place in which their Quality Systems, FDA GMP’s, HACCP, and Food Safety processes are implemented, ensuring that regulatory requirements are met in an environment of continual improvement.  Responsible for developing the Q&FS training, including facilitating development of training resources and the support of training personnel.  Additionally, this position is expected to participate in managing all Food Safety Programs while functioning as the Food Safety Team Lead.  Scope of responsibilities includes:

  • Manage Food Safety programs such as HACCP, HARPC, Food Defense, GFSI, and FSMA requirements
  • Daily batch record review and documentation verification
  • Monitor Regulatory and 3rd Party Audit Compliance
  • Manage Plant Quality Systems
  • Manage Document Management System
  • Manage Auditing Process (internal and external)
  • Provide Customer Liaison Support
  • Coordinate and Support Customer feedback
  • Conduct weekly and quarterly GMP and Food Safety walkthroughs
  • Manage environmental monitoring program
  • Coordinate management review meetings, and any other QA related meetings

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in a quality assurance position, including working in a cGMP manufacturing environment required
  • Experience with GFSI (FSSC 22000) and ISO 9001 compliance, HACCP, Food Defense, and FSMA required
  • Certifications in above standards highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field preferred
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Strong computer skills including SAP and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent follow-up skills
  • Ability to work independently to successfully complete assignments
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Field auditing skills
  • Field product inspections
