Quality Assurance and Safety Manager
The QA Manager is responsible for implementing the Quality Policy and Quality Manual of the organization in tandem with monitoring, assessing and communicating the Company GMP compliance status and issues through the auditing of documentation, practices and procedures. The primary focus of this position is to focus and improve the quality vision and impart a positive view of the department not only through the team being managed, but throughout the operations and management team.
Responsibilities and Contributions:
- Responsible for developing quality assurance policies for companywide quality management programs.
- Provide leadership and ensure the regulatory requirements are met in all aspects of the company’s operations.
- Manage QMS, QA, QC compliance staff (includes staff that coordinates Environmental Programs).
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of Document control, Process control and training systems.
- Manage the validation of the facilities, equipment and processes.
- Authorize documentation re: manufacture and quality control.
- Oversee the internal audit of the quality systems in each business unit.
- Provide leadership and participate in all reviews of QA, management, contracts and product development.
- Provide leadership and ensure high levels of food safety management is incorporated in all quality assurance policies and compliance functions, verifying the HACCP system and QMS.
- Provide leadership and technical support for any new product development to ensure procedures are effective to optimize quality and shelf life.
- On going support of QMS and CI initiatives throughout the company.
- Coach, mentor and support QA, QC team.
- Investigate and follow-up on consumer and customer complaints.
- Provide technical support to sanitation issues.
- Ensure that all products for release meet all testing and manufacturing specifications and are accurately labeled, identified and counted.
- Ensure facilities available to Customer's Quality Assurance representatives and third-party assessors in order to assess the Quality Management System.
- Propose preventive measures and promote programs to improve the Quality Management System to the executive committee.
- Plan and verify the execution of Audits, analyzing the results and deficiencies found.
- Provide SPC & data support for all operations when and where needed.

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- MS/BS degree in either food science, microbiology, biochemistry or chemical engineering preferably to a post graduate level in either science or management with 8 or more years’ experience managing and implementing QA strategies
- Trained in theory and methods (such as Conway or Six Sigma)
- Previous experience in benchmarking, integrating, and implementing best practices
- Superior verbal and written skills for clearly delegating tasks to team members and for effectively communicating results to management
- Strong inter-personal and organizational skills
- Ability to take initiative; manage tight deadlines
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills
- Experience with auditing, HACCP, GFSI, AIB, SPC and other quality measuring programs
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and strategies with a sound understanding of product formulation controls and documentation
