Job Description

Our Client is currently seeking a Quality Engineering & Process Manager at their Springfield, MA location. This role resides in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is responsible for developing, evaluating, and continuously improving manufacturing methods in order to maintain all quality control standards and systems. The Quality Engineer reports to the Plant Manager and works closely with Production Operators, Operations Manager, and Process Engineers in an effort to meet plant quality goals and initiatives.  

  • Develop and sustain the site ‘Quality Management System’ to ensure quality of finished product and raw material.
  • Standardize, train, and support Production Operators on quality work practices and procedures.
  • Manage the new product development process for Manufacturing
  • Implement new processes, quality tools, and procedures.
  • Provide primary support for all chemistry/quality related manufacturing issues; act as liaison between R&D, Technical Service, Marketing & Sales, and Production.
  • Develop and lead ‘Proactive Quality Control’ plans used in gap analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and put Corrective Actions in place for all quality related issues arising from production and customer issues.
  • Point person at site for interacting with customers on issues with product performance.
  • Analyze process data historian to troubleshoot and respond to product quality issues.
  • Conduct routine and non-routine QC auditing to ensure accuracy and repeatability of testing
  • Maintain all lab supplies required for lab and production QC testing
  • Monitor and improve the efficiency of the plant, ensure the manufacturing processes work at optimal levels, maximize the rate and quality of all surface treaters in order to meet supply requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise to modify and/or add new processes that will improve quality and efficiency
  • Provide technical knowledge to improve quality of existing products and/or new product development.
  • Provide technical assistance to improve process control and reduce variation.
  • Carry out process improvement/optimization work including planning and supervising in-mill production trials. Determine areas requiring process improvements and coordinate efforts for achievement
  • Provide technical advice on plant operations for troubleshooting and improvements.

Job Requirements

MUST BE A U.S. Citizen or Resident

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical) or BS Degree and 4+ years in Quality/Process Management Role.
  • Experience working with continuous and batch processes; Paper, Tissue, Non-Woven, Coating, Engineered Wood/Panels, Printing, or Chemical processes a plus.
  • QMS Maintenance and Development Experience
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black belt preferred but not required.
  • Management of multiple projects with various time lines
  • Coordination of project activities to ensure that projects are delivered on time
  • Ability to understand and develop cost models
  • Demonstrate strong leadership potential
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
