Quality Manager

  • The Quality Manager maintains company’s SQF Level 3 Certification ensuring food safety and quality of all processes and products within further processing
  • Creates and maintains procedures and documents processes to maintain food safety and quality, from receipt of raw materials and packaging, through processing and to the final distribution of finished goods
  • The Quality Manager verifies and validates food safety and food quality systems are working adequately as stated in procedures, and analyzes data to evaluate patterns and trends in results from microbiological and chemical testing
  • Maintains and improves products quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of QA, R&D and Operations management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods
  • Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations
  • Manages all quality teams for facilities, including but not limited to main, culinary, and external warehouse
  • Manages the development, implementation, validation / verification and maintenance of the SQF Level 3 Certification programs and procedures
  • Effectively communicates all information to implement and maintain SQF Level 3 Certification
  • Manages and enforces procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plans and the Food Quality Plans and any other programs that support the SQF Level 3 Certification and other 3rd party audits
  • Manages the maintenance of all production specifications; processing, packaging storage and distribution to ensure effective product safety, product quality, and sanitary design
  • Leads the development and implementation of Food Safety Fundamentals, the HACCP Plans, and the Food Quality Plans
  • Works as liaison between quality and production departments: supports and implements steps to drive success of quality department goals
  • Reports and takes necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality issues
  • Manages the process of analytical and micro testing of products and plant conditions
  • Supports key process indicators. Verifies product and process improvements through implementation and data analysis
  • Manages the completion of required reports, trending, and other required paperwork
  • Maintains sensitive product (Kosher) certification program requirements
  • Manages customer complaint procedures
  • Supports training and staff develop programs including assessing programs for effectiveness related to food safety & quality
  • Participates in performance evaluation of staff and conducts coaching and counseling sessions to identify skill development needs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Food Technology or Science in Food Process Engineering or related field
  • 6 years’ experience working in the food industry
  • Supervisory experience
  • Essential skills / knowledge: Strong leadership abilities, effective written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of current Code of Federal Regulations pertaining to food ingredients
