Quality Manager

The Quality Manager will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Supervises technical specialists responsible for performing lab testing on product development, including raw material and finished product testing
  • Interfaces with customers and auditors as needed to obtain and/or supply analytical information
  • Writes and develops new and/or improved analytical methods
  • Maintains the analytical equipment in good working order
  • Promotes and maintains a safe working environment in the lab
  • Manages Company’s quality management system (QMS) in accordance with regulations and policies. Provides critical data and information regarding the performance of that system to internal and external stakeholders
  • Develops and maintains company-wide quality processes including documentation, training, internal audits, corrective actions, and continual improvement initiatives
  • Works with staff to assess and ensure compliance with quality improvement and compliance against internal (policy/procedure) and external (contract/program) requirements
  • Implements and manages quality related metrics, conducts statistical analysis of operational performance, and identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Monitors the regulatory environment for changing quality policies, processes and procedures
  • Investigates, addresses, and responds to customer complaints regarding quality and initiates corrective action when necessary
  • Determines the work schedule in the lab
  • Hires, terminates, and develops personnel per corporate guidelines
  • Selects appropriate equipment to perform desired analytical test(s)
  • Recommends and selects analytical (Capital) equipment for the lab

Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in a science or engineering discipline, preferably chemistry
  • 8-10 years of progressive related work experience including quality control supervision
  • Working knowledge and training in quality standards such as ISO 9001 is essential
  • Must be proficient in (verbal and written) English language and interpreting analytical data
  • Must have strong time management, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Must demonstrate experience in metrics-based management, reviewing critical documents, and recordkeeping
  • Positive person with strong leadership skills
  • Someone that truly knows how to manage and motivate
  • Experience in hiring, firing, reviews, training, developing
  • Ability to direct 9 Direct reports – 2 Chemists / 7 QC Techs
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
