Quality Manager

Quality Manager needed in Southern part of Georgia with a stable and growing company.  This position will oversee 7 quality supervisors.

Summary / Objective:

Responsible for implementing methods to ensure production of quality and safe foods.  Also responsible for maintaining regulatory, certification, and customer compliance.  This role acts as SQF Practitioner and is responsible for maintaining, auditing, and executing all aspects of Quality and Food Safety Management Systems (QFSMS).  Leads day to day QAFS operations and activities and enforces GMP, Quality and Food Safety standards in the plant.  Directs, completes, and specification adherence.  Responsible for production quality and 3rd party audit / inspection readiness in the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as SQF Practitioner, Preventative Controls Qualified Individual, and HACCP Team Leader and leads all plant food safety programs and initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance to domestic, international, and other applicable regulatory bodies and requirements within product development and plant operations
  • Supervises QA Technicians in their day-to-day activities as well as monitoring their performance and attendance
  • Promoting adherence to all GMPs, specifications, and quality standards in production
  • Maintaining integrity of Hold/Release systems
  • Maintaining traceability as a member of the recall team and conducting mock recalls and challenges to the process as necessary
  • Conducting inspections and internal audits including returned product, incoming ingredients, GMPs, glass and brittle plastics, and other inspections and audits related to quality and food safety systems
  • Identifying non-conformances and initiating and completing root cause analysis and corrective action plans
  • Leading sanitation, housekeeping, and waste programs in compliance with GMP, SQF, and other applicable regulatory standards
  • Verification and review of preventative and critical controls as outlined in HACCP and HARPC plans
  • Maintaining processes and standard in Allergen Control Program
  • Maintain, implement, and challenge Food Defense and Food Fraud Programs
  • Training all departments on standards, practices, and processes related to food safety
  • Incoming raw ingredient inspections
  • Monthly Quarterly and GMP inspections
  • Incoming label inspections
  • Glass and brittle plastic inspections
  • Audit prep inspections and walkthroughs
  • Enforcing adherence to Organic and Almond System Plans
  • Enforcing adherence to GMPs
  • Tracebacks and Mock Recalls
  • Food Defense Program management
  • Allergen Program management
  • Crisis / Business Continuity Management
  • HACCP/HARPC verification, maintenance, and review
  • Product return inspections
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending classes, workshops etc.
  • Managing QA/FS team and working along with Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to successfully reach company benchmarks and goals

Job Requirements

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Biology, or related field
  • 5 years’ experience in QA in a food manufacturing environment preferred
  • HACCP, PCQI, SQF, and/or relevant Food Safety training and certification
  • Experience with computer applications or must pass company computer training class. Proficient with Microsoft Suite – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
